As well as some great Karate, Seaham has a lot to offer. You can come and train with us then afterwards, have a great day out. Here are 4 great things you can enjoy in our town.
1. Coastal Walks
Seaham is part of the Durham Heritage Coast, 11 miles of clifftop trails along the North-East coast. The coast is home to a variety of beauty spots including, rockpools, coastal denes, grasslands and meadows which are home to various species including Dolphins, Little Tern, Kittiwakes and minke whales. You can find out more about the wildlife in the area here
The Seaham coast has a variety of beaches, from the rocky beach to the north of the town where crowds flock to collect Sea Glass to the black sandy beach at Noses point as a filming location for various films and shows.
2. Cold Water Swimming at Seaham Marina
Fancy a swim in the sea?
The ‘slope beach’ in Seaham marina is the perfect place to enjoy a cold-water swim. The harbour walls provide an enclosed, sheltered body of water, away from the open sea. We often take to the water following a class as it is the perfect way to recover from a hard training session.
If you plan to take part in any open/cold water swimming you should familiarise yourself with the necessary safety information first
Following your swim, Seaham Marina has a range of shops, cafe’s, a pancake house and an ice cream parlour for you to enjoy alongside the sea views.
3. Food, drink, art, shopping and hotels
More coffee, great food and good pubs!
Just up the hill from the marina you can find Seaham town centre. With loads of pubs, bars, restaurants and shops. Coffee, cake, tapas and charcuterie boards are all on offer.
Seaham is also home to several art pieces, ‘Tommy’, a depiction of a first world war soldier at the moment the war ended; ‘The Coxswain’, a tribute to RNLI volunteers, which you can find at Seaham marina; The newest addition to Seaham’s art pieces is ‘George’ which pays homage to the mining history of the area.
As well as our art pieces Seaham is also home to a shopping centre and the 5-star spa hotel Seaham Hall
